... is too young to die. Too young to have fought cancer twice and finally lost. Too young to leave behind a husband of ten years and step-son. Sometimes life seems too hard and too wrong. Tiffany, I'm praying for your boys, that they'll find the strength to keep on breathing and living without you... thank you for all the great high school memories. Thank you for blessing my life with your light. I'm praying you're snug in the arms of Jesus tonight, old friend.

Memories of Tiffany:

Her leading "O Canada" at graduation, while most of her friends were growling because she hadn't won the spot of "soloist" when vocally she was by far better than the girl who got to do a solo during the ceremony.

Her telling the story of how she came to play... Tiny Tim, I think, in the Theatre New Brunswick's Christmas Carol.

Dancing and singing beside her in the musical "Readin' Ritin' and Rockin'" during grade nine.

Sitting behind her in English class, envying her hair!

Being very shocked when she told me that she really enjoyed kissing her boyfriend. I was so totally naive!

Leaning back at a variety show, closing my eyes, and letting myself be swept away by her voice as she sang Bette Midler's "From a Distance," sending it out to the soldiers fighting in the Gulf War (number 1). I don't think there was a dry eye in the gym, especially since so many of our classmates had military dads doing overseas duty, and several of the teachers had military husbands or wives on tour. Her voice soared, until near the end when even she began to tear up.

Goodbye, Tiffany...
